MUMBAI: For a general entertainment channel, numbers are crucial. In a bad performance phase lately, Zee Kannada has decided to take a call on restructuring its management and various teams.
Two months ago, Zee Kannada business head Gautham Machaiah decided to leave the company. It was then that the sales senior VP Siju Prabhakaran was elevated to the post of business head. In another major change, ETV Kannada’s Raghavendra Hunsur was roped in as Zee Kannada programming head.
The latest is that, citing company losses, Zee Kannada has asked about 15 employees from the programming, production and operations teams to give their resignations. This includes people at both head of department level and the second level. A three month severance package has been offered to all.
Sources from the channel say that the restructuring is being done by Hunsur to get the operations going with his own set of people in the team. People who have been asked to tender their resignations on 4 June were not given any prior intimation. Hunsur did not respond to questions at the time of filing this report.
Channel sources also indicate that a few more could be asked to leave to make space for more new employees. The new team will now be mandated to pull up the channel’s ratings.http://www.indiantelevision.com/television/tv-channels/regional/zee-kannada-restructures-management-and-teams-140605
