They want to turn this channel into GEC + News platform and ZEE was dropped because, the name ZEE was becoming barrier to attract GEC watchers. ZEE Salaam was always seen as news channel whereas Salaam will attract new viewers specially from Kashmir.

If they are going for international, they should improve the logo and packaging. The picture quality is also very poor. Looks like early 2000s technology is still being used.
