MUMBAI: Zee TV is set to launch the second
part of its ‘Maharakshak’ triology, ‘Devi’,
starting 14 March.

The show will air every Saturday and Sunday
at 7 pm. With the launch, Zee TV’s current
fiction shows, ‘Bandhan’ and ‘Hello
Pratibha’, which were recently extended till
Saturday, will again be aired five days a
week.

Zee TV had launched the superhero trilogy in
November last year with ‘Maharakshak
Aryan’ at 7 pm slot, Saturday–Sunday. The
channel claims that the show appealed
especially to children and men, adding great
value to Zee TV’s weekend ‘family unifier’
band that aims to provide holistic family
entertainment.

The second part, ‘Maharakshak Devi’ tells
the story of a girl who discovers
superpowers within her and sets out on a
mission to combat social evils.

Zee TV business head Pradeep Hejmadi
said, “Fantasy as a genre had little or no
representation on Indian television until we
introduced the ‘Maharakshak’ trilogy last
year. The attempt was to give viewers an
original Indian superhero series and the first
part ‘Aryan’ was successful in that
endeavour.

“With the second part, ‘Devi’, the premise of
good against evil endures but our
protagonist is now a girl blessed with
superpowers that she will leverage to
surmount evil that has manifested itself in
various modern-day avatars. She is the
embodiment of the collective strength of
every contemporary Indian woman and in
that sense, urges every woman out there to
draw from her inner strength to be the Devi
she truly is.”

Umang Jain will essay the title role of Devi,
while Rohit Bakshi will play the role of her
guru Brihaspati. The evil Shukracharya will
be played by Indraneil Sengupta. The show
is produced by Essel Vision Productions,
ZEEL’s creative and production studio.
