DTH Performance Report for April 2024

It’s time to analyze the performance of Direct-to-home (DTH) operators for the month of April 2024. Starting with Tata Play which came up with a very large addition of 12 channels, followed by Airtel Digital TV with 5 new channels. Dish TV and D2H added 1 new channel each. On the other hand, Sun Direct added 4 new channels but removed 2 channels while DD Free Dish added 8 new channels and removed 6 channels from their platforms.

Tata Play

The additions made by Tata Play include 3 HD and 9 SD channels namely ETV Bal Bharat HD, ETV Plus HD, ETV Cinema HD, Naxatra News, NDTV Marathi, Zee Anmol Cinema 2, Raj Nagaichuvai, Raj Pariwar, All Time Movies, Thanthi One, Calvary TV, and Tamil Janam.

Tata Play is the first and only DTH to add ETV Bal Bharat HD, ETV Plus HD, ETV Cinema HD, Naxatra News, and NDTV Marathi.

During April month, Tata Play removed ABZY Movies, Sanskriti 24×7, Praveg, and Cinema TV India from its platform. Besides Jingalala Offers, Tata Play has started an offer under which their Tamil regional service channel, Tata Play Tamil Classics has been made available free for 3 months.

Airtel Digital TV

Airtel Digital TV has made 5 new channels available on their platform which include MBC TV, Channel 36 UPUK, Thanthi One, India Super Fast, and Zee Anmol Cinema 2.

Airtel Digital TV removed A1 TV from its platform. There was no Super Sunday sale provided by Airtel Digital TV for the whole month but we saw a lot of improvement in the performance of Airtel Digital TV compared to the previous month.

Dish TV and D2H

Both Dish TV and D2H added Zee Anmol Cinema 2 on its platform and removed no channels from their platform. Other than channel addition and removal, Dish D2H has launched its new 4K Android Set-top-box Dish TV Smart+. All Dish TV and D2H subscribers including new and existing ones can enjoy popular OTT apps along with their preferred TV subscription package.

Dish D2H has also launched a new “Malamaal” offer. According to the offer, if a new customer decides to purchase an HD connection for Rs 3000, a cashback amount of up to Rs 5500 will be credited directly to their DTH accounts.

Sun Direct

Sun Direct has added Star 4K (Service Channel), Sun Neo, Sun Neo HD, and Zee Anmol Cinema 2 on their platform. Besides channel addition, Sun Direct removed Travel XP HD and Tezheeb TV from its platform.

After Tata Play and Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct is the 3rd DTH operator to add Star 4K on LCN 900. Sun Neo HD is only available exclusively on Sun Direct on LCN 870 while its SD variant is present on DD Free Dish.

DD Free Dish

The state-owned, Free-to-air satellite television provider DD Free Dish conducted its 75th online e-auction and added 8 channels namely Dhammal, Sun Neo, Action Cinema, Zee Anmol Cinema 2, Raapchik, Pear TV, News 24, and Sadhana TV in April Month.

On the other side, DD Free Dish removed Enterr10, Dhamaka Movies B4U, MTV Beats, Vedic TV, Swadesh News, and Shemaroo Marathibana from its platform.
