DTH Performance Report for November 2023

It’s time to analyze the performance of Direct-to-home (DTH) operators for the month of November 2023. Starting with Tata Play which came up with an enormous addition of 13 channels, followed by Airtel Digital TV with 6 new channels. Dish TV only added 2 new channels. On the other hand, D2H also added 2 new channels but at the cost of removing 3 channels while both Sun Direct and DD Free Dish added 2 new channels on their platforms.

Tata Play

Tata Play has added 13 new channels to its platform. The addition list contains channels namely BRK News, DD Uttarakhand, DD Chhattisgarh, DD Himachal, DD Haryana, DD Nagaland, DD Goa, DD Tripura, DD Mizoram, DD Jharkhand, DD Sports HD, Sports18- 2, and Sports18- 3. The Doordarshan channels mostly dominate the list as there are many new DD channels added by Tata Play compared to other channels. Besides DD channels, Sports 18- 2 and Sports 18- 3 are the new channels launched by Sports18 Network, owned by Viacom18 on 1st November 2023.

Tata Play also removed 2 channels- Studio Yuva and News 7 Tamil from their platform. Tata Play’s Jingalala Offers have just been like a cherry on the top of the cake. These offers include High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) channels, packs, and platform Services for Re. 1 for a month. Additionally, Tata Play has launched a new ‘Cashback Dhamaka’ offer under which subscribers recharging for 12 Months or 6 Months will get 2 Months and 1 Month cashback respectively with ICICI Bank Credit Cards.

Airtel Digital TV

Airtel Digital TV has welcomed 6 new channels on their platform namely News India 24×7, Anaadi TV, BRK News, Sports18- 2, Sports18- 3, and Airtel Malayalam Info 1 (Service Channel). Airtel Digital TV added Sports 18- 2 on 23rd November 2023 and Sports 18- 3 on 8th November 2023.

On the other side, Airtel Digital TV removed Sanskriti 24×7 from their platform. From last month, the platform also stopped offering Airtel Super Sunday Sale offers for its subscribers.

Dish TV and D2H

Dish TV added 2 new channels named NB News and Nazara TV. Dish TV has not removed any channel which is a bit of improvement from the previous month. Dish TV also offered service channels for Re.1 for the first 7 days.

D2H added Test Channel and D2H Connect. Both are service channels. Inversely, D2H removed 3 channels named Rongeen TV, Studio One Plus, and Jeet Ka Safar (Service Channel). Dish TV and D2H also offered service channels for Re.1 for the first 7 days.

Sun Direct

Sun Direct added 2 newly launched HD channels- Sun Marathi HD and Sun Bangla HD on their platform. Sun Bangla HD and Sun Marathi HD were launched by Sun Network on 28th November 2023. On the great side, Sun Direct removed no SD or HD channels from its platform.

DD Free Dish

The state-owned, Free-to-air satellite television provider DD Free Dish added DD News HD and DD Himachal Pradesh in November month. DD Free Dish also removed no SD or HD channels from their platform.
