The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has cancelled the license of HBC News according to the database of cancelled TV licenses provided by the Ministry.

The license was cancelled yesterday by the Ministry. The reason for the cancellation of the TV license has been given as ‘Not Required’. The license cancellation was the only cancellation made by the Ministry in the past 30 days.

The license was granted to the Hindustan Broadcasting Company to run its HBC News channel in 2009. The channel’s license was last used by UP TV in 2017 before it went off the air.

The number of cancelled TV channels currently stands at 288 while the number of permitted satellite TV channels stands at 918 as of today. Earlier last month Siddharth Gold and Shalini TV were granted TV license by the MIB. The Ministry’s database is yet to be updated with any other new changes which might have taken place.
