The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India on 05th August 2019 issued a show-cause notice to New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV).
The ministry has asked NDTV to show cause within 15 days as to why action should not be initiated against the Company as per Clause 8.2 of the Guidelines for up-linking from India for not taking prior permission from the said Ministry before appointing the CEO of the Company with effect from 04.12.2017 which has been alleged to be in violation of Clause 5.10 of the said Guidelines.
NDTV in a filing with the BSE has said that the Company will be filing its reply as it has been advised by its lawyers that there ‘5 no violation as alleged in the Show Cause Notice, inter alia, for the reason that the appointment was necessitated by the untimely death of the then CEO Mr KVL Narayan Rao and the appointment was subject to statutory approvals including from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
