The Telugu news channel space will get a new player from January 26, 2013. Andhra Pradesh-based Spoorthi Communications Private Limited is all set to launch its 24-hour news channel 10 TV, which will be telecasted in Andhra Pradesh and other Telugu-speaking areas like Karnataka and Orrisa.

Recently, the Chief Minister of AP, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, unveiled the logo of 10TV. The channel’s USP is summed up by the brand tagline ‘The 4th Estate with a 6th Sense’.

Prominent columnist Prof. K Nageswar is the Chairman of Spoorthi communications Private Limited, who comes with 30 years of experience working as an editor, analyst and activist. K Venu Gopal is the Managing Director, while Arun Sagar, a veteran journalist for more than two decades in the electronic media, has been roped in as the CEO.

Elaborating on the reasons for starting the channel, Arun Sagar, CEO, 10TV said, “Most of the Telugu news channels are either directly or indirectly backed by political parties or has vested interests. During the past few years, the viewers’ information and understanding levels have grown manifold. Our endeavour is to build an alternative to the present and hence, this attempt.”

The channel is trying to target advertisers around the country and will be available on digital and analog platforms through various MSOs. It is believed that most of the TV9 Telugu team have moved out along with Arun Sagar to 10TV.
