Almost every top news channels have started testing on a pilot basis. By testing I mean not broadcasting but equiping few media vans with HD cameras and testing the live feed. Next year you ll see a lot of news channels launching their HD feed.

News channels won't go hd unless they go pay. Majority of them are still fta. All cameras are hd cameras these days, there are no cameras used for shooting which is not hd.

i said top news channels not all. Plus media vans doing live coverage are not HD equipped. That was the only issue equipping media vans with HD equipment would raise the cost of production thats the only reason for delay. Only documentaries are shot in HD that too not all.

SES9 is launching in dec 2014, and carries 81 Ku band TPs of 36 Mhz.

Currently ADTV uses only 11 TPs.
So, one can very well imagine, how many HD chnls can be launched wid abt 20 -30 more TPs.
