The district administration has barred 13 cable TV operators in Dharmapuri after they were found to be evading payments to the government-owned Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited.

Dharmapuri collector R. Lily ordered officials to conduct surprise checks in control rooms of cable TV operators in the villages after she was informed about cable TV operators using DTH services for TV signals to avoid paying Arasu Cable TV Corporation.

The checks revealed that many cable operators in Dharmapuri villages not only avoided paying Arasu Cable TV Corporation but also operated without the licence that is required for running their business.

Lily instructed officials to initiate against these officials who then seized the devices used for signal transmission and also sealed the places from where the unauthorised signal distribution was being done.

Lily asked cable operators to receive signals only from Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited or through its authorised multi-system operator to avoid trouble and to provide better service to consumers at a nominal cost.
