Bharti Airtel is reportedly in advanced negotiations with the Tata Group to acquire Tata Play, India's largest direct-to-home (DTH) business. The move aims to strengthen Airtel's position in the digital TV segment, which has been facing growth challenges, and enhance its bundled offerings to boost non-mobile revenues through convergence. According to a report in Economic Times, "Bharti Airtel is in advanced negotiations with the Tata Group to buy loss-making Tata Play, India’s largest direct-to-home (DTH) business, said people aware of the matter. The aim is to consolidate its presence in the digital TV segment that’s facing growth challenges while improving Airtel’s bundled offerings to shore up its non-mobile revenues through convergence."

Edit: The talks, ongoing for weeks, have gathered momentum and a formal announcement is expected soon, said the people cited above. Tata Sons did not comment.

It's great to hear that Airtel may acquire Tataplay, potentially solidifying their dominance in India's market, and enabling them to maintain their competitive edge, even against Ambani's Jio Fiber.

If this deal will complete then they should use single satellite for both dth with common channels on platform otherwise they will be next Dish - d2h sure because few years ago everyone expected something new between Dish TV and D2h merging but we all know what's happened after merging ;)
