Airtel didn't removed equal numbers of channels for this test as worried by some of our members

But 1080i has double refresh rate(50/60Hz) compared to 1080p(25/30 Hz), so theoretically both should have same PQ.

1080p = 1920x1080 @ 24 fps. 1080i = 1920x(576*2). The 576 part is interlaced twice by the tv to show 50/60 Hz refresh rates. The signal recieved in 1080i is actually 1920x576. So 1080p is far better than 1080i. Infact 1080i is almost equal to 720p.

Airtel have not removed equal no. of channels, But they moved 4 Tamil channels into mosaic mode for this testing....

Everywhere its 1080i only. 1080p takes twice the bandwidth of 1080i. In US they have 1 or 2 movie on demand channels in 1080p. Rest is all in 1080i

But the quality shown on india DTH is good, but few which r HD r better.one day it will come. All HD.
