Hi,
I am exploring various DTH options. While checking the DTH Box of airtel HD connection (no Android stream) I notice that everywhere it says 1080i.
I am not sure if it also supports 1080p.
I prefer 1080p rather than 1080i.
My current videocon d2h HD box can output both 1080i as well as 1080p.
There are some youtube videos where it shows a number of options on Airtel android box that includes 1080i as well as 1080p, but nothing much recent on only HD box.
Thx

Thx for your query. There's a slight difference between the two. i is interlaced and p is progressive.
p is slightly better than i and I have a bit of OCD when it comes to p, as as per theory 1080p is a bit superior because of its clearer, smoother images as well as effective handling of fast motion.

My current d2h has 720p default fallback + 1080i as well as 1080p and I always keep it on 1080p.
So if your STB (source) and sink both support 1080p better set it to 1080p.

Actually in theory, 1080p is 2 times better than 1080i...
Practically, only visible difference I observed for fast moving pictures in 1080i you will observe horizontal lines(interlaced lines) at the edges of the people while in 1080p it is smoother

Also not to forget all our broadcasters are broadcasting HD channels at 1080i 50hz only, the 1080p optiok is just trying to upscale, so as the source is not true 1080p, there is not much difference except those lines I mentioned...
