I think a solid 4 feet dish is enough to protect our head....

But will be too difficult to carry it around on our heads, all the time... :lol

Space debris is really is of big concern, there is much debate on how to eliminate this debris. China launched a missile for head on with a satellite.

Concentrating high energy Laser by tracking the satellite trajectory and amount decay in the orbit, may stop them reaching earth. The best method is to vaporize them. As destroying them with a missile leads to many problems as the big satellite will become into untraceable smaller pieces which punch through the Space station and space suits or collide with another satellite.
