I don't know what is the reason behind 4K??? How much subscribers have 4k tv????????? But an HD channels can be viewed in Normal CRT TVs. But a 4K channel can't be viewed without 4K TV and a 4K STB.

This is how HD also introduced where the number of customers having LED/LCD TV is less as like the current situation for 4K. 3D is also introduced like that (not in DTH) but failed. Let us see the future of 4K.

And, HD channels can be viewed in CRT TV but not in HD quality. HD boxes are having component and composite video outputs to connect it to CRT TVs. I too connected my D2H HD box with my old CRT TV and confirmed this.

Similarly, 4K can be connected to Full HD/HD Ready LED through 1.4 version of HDMI cable. The TV will show the quality in HD but not in 4K. Experts can shed more light on this.

Think about those who have invested on 4k TV. Just like u r breaking ur head for the lack of HD chs they r breaking their heads bcoz of Zero 4K chs available in India.

Now u should not say that those people shouldn't have invested on 4k TV bcoz same logic applies to u also like why did u buy a HD Tv when lots of SD chs are available ? u should have bought CRT instead

IMHO 4K stb will also have component output. So u can connect it to even CRT and watch 4K on CRT but in downgraded SD resolution :s

if you don't have the capability to provide all the HD channels available and will be available in India(i.e the HD channel should be added in its launching date/as soon as possible) then what is the reason behind 4K?? just for the "Future proof" Tag???

Can we identify the difference between a 1080i HD channel and 4k UHD channel in bare eyes on a 40 inch LED TV?? Whatever iit is 4K or FULL HD TV.
To identify the difference we need 55 inch+ screen. Am I wrong??

When HD was introduced about 4 year back the cost of 32 inch LED TV was about 40 thousands if I am correct. Now it is reduced to 25000. We can expect the same way for 4k TVs in future.

When you ask what is the need of 4k when lots of HD channels are missing. Look at tatasky who is also launching 4k. They are not only lagging in HD channels but also lagging in some most wanted SD channels too.

Look at Sun Direct and RDTV. They also don't have some demanding SD channels but still started providing HD channels long back....
