I too used one.. Got it from Richie Street.. But there is no improvement to be seen by eyes.. But when I connected the output into SCV set top box, I noticed there was an improvement in signal strength but not in quality, which actually degraded the digital output quality from set top box. In analog there was no improvement/degrade even we are getting increased signal strength..

how much cost and which brand r u used?? can u ss here friend ??

My LCO took ages to give a better quality, he was too lazy to even put a booster and when asked about English channels he would simply reply "you wont get it, SCV has put it in the last slot and hence it cant be viewed, just forget it".

I did my best to locate some booster to get better quality and noone had any idea and all said that it wont make much difference and is never an alternate to an LCO's boosters.

And only when more people moved to DTH and he got a threat for his business in the name of DTH players he got scared and started to offer better quality. But i seriously don't know how long he will give the same quality, may be if SCV keeps offering analogue and people choose to stay then once again that vedhalaam might climb the tree.

LCO's in most parts of Chennai just think like a money collecting agent and we public have to get and accept what ever crap he offers. MSO's are no different.

Donno when this would change or what if this never changes :huh :huh

When first time i connect SCV analog cable, nearly 10 years back, the last frequency channels didn't have much clarity. (same case like you ), but after that, i saw some of my friends house , their lco gave better clarity for even last channel , i shouted to my lco. My LCO didn't hear anything. What i did is , i just cut my cable wires and asked my LCO , i didn't getting any channels, he came , and joined the wires, i told , i didn't get the clarity what i get previously, and also told i won't pay monthly subscription for this clarity. Then he put booster near to my house.
Last month i moved to perungalathur, here too much waste. Even Vijay tv clarity itself too much bad. .
I shouted to my LCO, and from yes'day , am getting much better clarity.

Good, this tactic even worked for me once.

Yes, these LCO's usually were saying that if you dont want cable i will cut as Rs 100 was nothing to him, but after more people went to DTH they are doing some job now to retain atleast the left over customers.

But i'm sure that these DAS delays and SCV forcing customers with monopolizm would only force more people move to DTH and a small price cut in DTH would make a sea change and much more people would move to DTH and in future local cable would be history. Only this can teach some lesson to these LCO's and MSO's.

Can some one give the ebay link for the above mentioned amplifiers..

Thanks

You may try this - CATV Signal Booster.

But if your cable tv signal is so bad even for other houses then these may not work that great as only the clarity might increase with all these grains. So its always better to demand a better quality signal from the LCO.

amplifiers cannot be installed wherever u want. It has to be installed before the signal get degraded so the signal gets boosted. else there is no point in installing at your premises. please do not invest on all these its a waste of money. I have bought a amplifier some 3 years ago and it did not make any difference, my lco said it will not work for the signal which he gives and finally i gave it free to my lco. he was explaning that there are different types of amplifier and one cannot get it off the market and install, you will have to know the type of signal he gives, else there is not point in installing one. so better go to your LCO itself. if thats not going to work go for DTH. There are few digital amplifiers which costs a bomb, which you can never afford so dont invest on these. im not sure if ur from chennai, SCV uses FIBER and they have special amplifier which are way tooo expensive.( you will have to find where exactly the signal is going down and install there, and of course thats not our job!!)

Dear Friend,

I would like to know which brand of Amp you were using? How many DB got increased after using it? Were there any improvement in clarity?
