The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, together with pay-TV operator, Astro, will launch Disney XD, a brand new kids channel in Malaysia on Sept 15.
Disney XD, aimed at kids, aged between six and 14, will be the first international kids channel on Astro's basic platform, said Astro's Chief Operating Officer Henry Tan said Tuesday.
He said the programme would be available in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil from day one.
Available in both standard definition Channel 617 and high definition Channel 637, the 24-hour service features a mix of original Disney XD series, action and adventure movies, animation and anime, sports entertainment and local content, he said.
"Malaysia is the first country in Southeast Asia to launch Disney XD. All Astro customers will be able to enjoy Disney XD as it is available in the basic pack and high definition for our Malaysian viewers," he told reporters at the channel launch today.
