‘Star Screen Awards’ helps Star Plus to reclaim top spot from Colors
Hindi GEC Star Plus recaptured the Hindi GEC throne from Colors for the urban + rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM) as well as urban HSM on the back of ‘Star Screen Awards’, which aired on the channel in the first week of the new year.
‘Star Screen Awards’ was among the top 5 shows in the urban + rural HSM garnering 9.68 million impressions to grab the fourth position. In fact, ‘Star Screen Awards’ was the only show from Star Plus in the top 5 list.
During the week, Star Plus’s ratings jumped 11.29% to 69.83 crore impressions compared to 62.74 crore the previous week. Colors’ weekly impressions grew 2.72% to end the week at 68.7 crore impressions. However, the gap between the two channels was very narrow.
Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and SAB TV each moved one level up to the fifth and the seventh position respectively. The two channels pushed Sony Pal and Zee Anmol down to the sixth and ninth positions respectively. Life OK climbed a level up to No. 8.
Top shows in Urban+Rural HSM
The first three shows in the top 5 remained unchanged. ‘Star Screen Awards’ pushed ‘Shakti’ to No. 5 with ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ moving out of the table altogether.
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
In urban HSM too, Star Plus regained the top spot from Colors, which moved to second position.
Star Utsav pushed Zee Anmol out of the top 10 by grabbing the 10th position. Other positions remained unchanged.
Top shows in Urban HSM
In urban HSM, ‘Star Screen Awards’ was the second most watched programme after ‘Naagin 2’. ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ entered the top 5 while ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and ‘Udaan’ failed to make it to the list.
Top Hindi GECs in Rural HSM
Zee Anmol upstaged Sony Pal to grab the second position, even as Rishtey retained the Hindi GEC crown for rural HSM. SET and Life OK swapped positions at the ninth and 10th positions.
Top shows in Rural HSM
‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Naagin’ (6–7 pm) were two new entrants to the top 5 show list for rural HSM. The top three shows remained the same.
