Basically if u see the astrix or other such icons above the data it means they r claiming to be No. 1 in some specific demographic, time span and region....u can see the same clearly stated in small letters in bottom part of the banner/chart.
As i have earlier too mentioned Star India Hindi Movie Channels have strong viewership in the urban regions, this is why even their HD Hindi Movie channels perform better than rivals.....their focus on airing diverse bollywood movies has helped them gain distinct + unique appeal among the viewers, even Star Utsav Movies has been performing very well among rural + DD Free Dish audience base.
Also ad rates r not solely dependent on ratings but r decided as per audience base of a channel, so Sony TV may not be doing well in overall ratings but it has loyal urban audience thus attracts lot of advertisers looking to reach to this segment of viewers similarly FTA channels generally have more of rural + small town audience hence attracts brands which want to reach to this viewer base...ad rates also r decided upon these factors
