Out of context, there are chances many channel which will get merged like

Star Kiran and Colors Odia
Star Jalsha and Colors Bangla
Star Suvarna and Colors Kannada

Best part is JV already has only one GEC in each language like, Star Maa in Telugu, Asianet in Malayalam.

P.S : Star Vijay and Colors Tamil are performing well in ranting. So, very less chances.

Colors Tamil not able to climb top 5 in barc charts as well as it is behind Jaya Kalainger, ie it stands at 7th or 8th position. At the same time Vijay TV is at a stronger position in its history. So its better to shut down colors tamil.

Generated revenue is very less than, the amount of money they spend on management and keeping the channel run.

Star-RIL is going to freeze ad rates for the next two years, so there is no way they can merge these channels. Star-RIL would prefer to keep as many channels running as possible to recover losses from the ad rate freeze.

They will most likely rerun content from the main GECs on underperforming channels like Colors Bangla, Colors Tamil, Star Kiran, etc. They might even dub shows from other regions and broadcast them on these channels to get ratings and generate revenue. This approach wouldnt require a high level management team, allowing for cost cutting in production and management while still earning money.

Star-RIL is going to freeze ad rates for the next two years, so there is no way they can merge these channels. Star-RIL would prefer to keep as many channels running as possible to recover losses from the ad rate freeze.

Freeze ad rates will impact on those channels which are having good ratings, what they are getting from non performing assets is none in front of amont they'll spend to dub content and management.
And, this will bring more negetive impression among TV watchers who are paying heavy monthly charges just to watch repeated content.

This approach wouldnt require a high level management team, allowing for cost cutting in production and management while still earning money.

There are lots of time slots on performing channel they can put this efforts on that also.
For example, Star Plus telecast dubbed shows in afternoon instead of showing them on Star Bharat. Why? Because, they know where to put efforts.

Many networks have rerun channels, but that doesn’t mean they are creating a negative impression on the audience's minds by rerunning content from the main channels. Additionally, they aren’t turning the main GECs into rerun channels. It’s more likely that underperforming channels will become rerun channels, and they will be offered at a reasonable price or as part of a channel bouquet.

Dubbing doesnt require much money compared to revenues they will earn from those channels.

sorry but there are hardly time slots left on main GECs, they are packed from afternoon to late night.
