Comedy Central adds films to programming

For the first time, Viacom18’s English entertainment channel Comedy Central will be showcasing feature films.

Comedy Central will be airing a special line-up of shows and movies this month.

The films will air on Sunday afternoons from 12 pm onwards, with a primetime repeat at 9 pm. Comedy Central will air their first movie ‘Grown-ups 2’ on 16 October.

This will be followed by the rom-com ‘The Ugly Truth’ on 23 October and a classic romantic film ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ on 30 October.

Apart from movies and regular shows like ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’, ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, the channel is also showcasing premieres of ‘The Detour’, ‘Crowded’, ‘Man with a Plan’ and ‘The Great Indoors’.

The channel is also bringing back new seasons of old shows like ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘Dr Ken’ and ‘The Graham Norton Show’.

Commenting on the new line-up, Viacom18, youth and English entertainment, head of programming, Hashim D’Souza said, “We have received terrific responses from our viewers in the past, proving time and again, that Comedy Central is, in fact, their Happy Place! Owing to this continued overwhelming response, we’ve decided to enter October with some fantastic watch with the world shows and some all-time favourites.

We’ve also decided to amp our engagement with our viewers through their most loved movies. By introducing these blockbusters in our line-up, we aim to continue to spread more happiness and cheer.

I hope that our viewers enjoy all that we have to offer!”

The channel will premiere Golden Globe Award winner Matt LeBlanc’s comedy series ‘Man with a Plan’ on 29 October at 9 pm, followed by Joel McHales’ American sitcom based around the online team of so-called journalists at 9.30 pm.

The on-road comedy series ‘The Detour’ will be premiered on 5 October at 10 pm, while the American sitcom ‘Crowded’ revolving around a married couple and their adult daughters will be aired on 14 October at 10.30 pm.

Comedy Central will re-run ‘The Mindy Project 1–4’ from 19 October 9 pm, followed by ‘Awkward 1–5’ at 9:30 pm and ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show’ at 10 pm.

The channel will also host a festival special programming by airing American sitcom ‘The Carmichael Show’ on 29 and 30 October at 4 pm.

The show revolves around a stand-up comedian, Jerrod Carmichael, who has to juggle with his life between his crazy, passionate family and his girlfriend, who is training to be a therapist.
