I have videocon d2h sd and there is component (Green, Blue and Red) port on my stb. Will there be any improvement in PQ using component cable over standard av cable? And how much does component cable costs?

Difinitely improvement will be there.. You can use normal av cable with red, white and yellow. But connect correctly...

Sadly on HD zapper the component has been deactivated, leaving choices limited!

In RCA (Yellow,Red, White) cable transmission will be 576i or 480i (Interlaced) signal. With Component cable, you will get 576P or 480P (Progressive) signal transmitted to TV. Progressive signal will definitely gets better picture. If your TV supports, Component input, please use that.

But he wont get sound through component he needs again audio cables for audio

Check the connections available on the back panel. Typically there will be 3 connectors- Yellow, Red and White. Along with that if you see 5 more, marked Y, Pb, Pr (Cyan,Blue and Red) + Red & White for Audio, you have component input on your TV.
