I also thought the same but from Star you can't take Star, ZEE from ZEE same is with Colors Logo. They themselves had Colors Golden Petal Awards remember?

Now, this is something innovative you're keeping the essence of petal and also changing the traditional structure of colors. Coming to the implementation certainly, this plain logo is not applicable to channels that are having mass as their core audience but this is definitely good for niche channels like colors infinity or if they want VH1, MTV under colors brand in future.

Overall a good attempt. Kudos!
