HDTV may be transmitted in various formats:

FULL HD: 1080p - 1920×1080p: 2,073,600 pixels (approximately 2.1 megapixels) per frame
HD READY: 1080i - typically either:
1920×1080i: 1,036,800 pixels (approximately 1 megapixel) per field or 2,073,600 pixels (approximately 2.1 megapixels) per frame
1440×1080i:[1] 777,600 pixels (approximately 0.8 megapixels) per field or 1,555,200 pixels (approximately 1.6 megapixels) per frame
720p - 1280×720p: 921,600 pixels (approximately 0.9 megapixels) per frame

The letter "p" here stands for progressive scan while "i" indicates interlaced.

When transmitted at two megapixels per frame, HDTV provides about five times as many pixels as SD (standard-definition television.

Full HD channels r not available in India at Present. Where as The HD channels that we all r seeing thsese days are all HD Ready channels i.e.1080i and 720p.
Full HD channel in foriegn country is BBC which is also provinding some contents only in Full HD i.e. 1080p.

Screen resolution: HD ready- 720p,Full HD -1080p

An HD ready TV cannot display high definition TV, it can only display at a slightly higher screen resolution than conventional TV. So if you play full HD media on an HD ready TV you will actually *lose* image quality. It'll still look better than a conventional TV, but not a patch on full HD.

HDTVs today are able to support 720i/720p/1080i/1080p signals. So the single most important spec that should be looking for when choosing a HDTV is the screen resolution

Sadly Mine is HD ready LCD

I would suggest Sony

Full HD means a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it can display 1080p pictures.

HD Ready means a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and can display 720p.

You cant enjoy Full HD if the screen size is less than 42 inches because of the high pixel ratio. Better go for a HD ready if you want 32 inch, so you can save few bucks. Also 1080p is not required atleast now since we do not have any broadcaster who telecasts at 1080p.

My TV Is Sony LED KDL 32EX520 Is It Full On HD Or HD Ready
