NEW DELHI: DTH major Dish TV on Wednesday reported a lower net loss at Rs 18.3 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011.

The company's net loss stood at Rs 63.18 crore for the same period during the previous fiscal.

"Key operating metrics continued to be in line with expectations. Subscriber acquisition cost for the quarter was down to Rs 2,058. Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) remained steady at Rs 150 despite a higher subscriber base," Dish TV managing director Jawahar Goel said in a statement.

Total income rose to Rs 474.05 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 331.96 crore for the same quarter last year.

Dish TV added 0.72 million new subscribers in the first quarter, achieving a total of 11.2 million (gross) and 8.9 million (net) subscribers at the end of June 30, 2011.

"Subscription revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 392.2 crore, recording an increase of 57 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal...Net loss continued with its downward trend, making bottom-line profitability visible in the coming quarters," Goel said.

Shares of Dish TV India were trading at Rs 90 apiece at 1440 hours, down 3.43 per cent from the previous close on the BSE.
