That happened because many streamers launched haphazardly, it's obvious that when you offer 100 new originals, now you'll have to pay 100+ items on taxes, salary, marketing, server management and all that stuff. Ideally it'd have been worked more like an archive service where you don't have to pay royalties to anyone but most corporations (and mostly the CEOs) didn't understand how this worked and then you have the consequences.

Peacock is a distant player in the streaming market. Netflix is making billions in profit. HBO is a hugely profitable business but their streaming component Max isn't. Streaming is the future but it needs broadband penetration and fiduciary budget control to make it profitable.

Better to merge all streaming units, Hotstar, Sony Liv and Zee5, atleast TV shows can rescue them as latest movies goes to Amazon Prime, Netflix and IPL on Jio Cinema now.
