Adani out of syllabus here let's see, But strong buzz from media persons is same industrial multinational company already own stake in US media company again trying to their best acquire another media company Stakes. Now imagine If they Acquire now real problem will start, will they close existing joint venture media company Regional, English/music, No.1 kids Network just sake of No.1 title ?
Paramount already said it has no intrest in running tv buisness in india, but wants to produce content.
They wont give up RIL because of jio.

My prediction.
RIL already has star employees and leaders.
Its just some time to buy star.

Now that jio financial is coming out. Probably network18 and tv 18 might merge as jio network / platforms and have stakes in new combined entity.

Hotstar has very solid subscriber base?

Who? Those 59 cents ARPU base which Hotstar gets through Telecom deals?

Without IPL/HBO/F1, they don't have any base.

You're telling me Anupama and Saas Bahu attracted 50 Million+ users?
Currently they have 50+ mn subscriber base that much is enough if they want to rebuild hotstar brand with some quality content.

Right now their subscribers are definitely on decreasing spree but compared to other players their base is much more strong. Only if they invests money wisely they will able to sustain their subscribers.

Jio/RIL won't buy Disney Star.

They'll let it die slowly like Vodafone Idea.

Strong is when it has a good ARPU and not 59 cents. If anyone can crack quality content then it will be easy for every other media company.

Disney Star won't know quality even if someone slaps quality on their face.

Rudra is their #1 show. Go figure.

Did you evn read my og post ??

I had already slammed disney for their mistakes, they are the one who are to blame for whole situation, they dont know how each and every other market works, they only tries to sell their US strategy and wants to make quick profit.
Their strategies sucks everywhere, recently there was layoff of employees in Disney plus korea who were responsible content production. They dont want to make good content, but wants profit. They only knows how to make remakes of US series.

Right now they have saved more than 20k cr by not buying IPL digital rights so why not invest that money to make good content and build stronger base for hotstar.

Evn with $0.59 ARPU they still have advantage of good number of subscribers unlike other OTTs so why not invest money nd make it stronger, they just cant run away from indian market just becoz of temporary losses as indian market will be very significant in OTT world.

Thats what i was saying through my og post, just read it again nd make comment.

Future of disney
1. Sale of star india
2. Disney content licensing to rivals
3. Sale of abc
4. Purchace of hulu
5. Sublicensing "loss making" marvel content
Disney has a an OTT named Star+ too in south America.

This is exactly like when Disney acquired Star everyone thought Disney will control Star, But everything gone wrong eventually Star itself Closed Disney's Genex/UTv, Bindass OTT and cancelled Disney's Hollywood Pixar/Marvel Studios content partnership with JioCinema in India. Same thing going to happen if Reliance/Bodhi Tree Acquire or Joint venture with Star Branding they will close Another US media company Entertainment channels sake of numbers game. Nobody can't run two media company same time in India.

RIL/Viacom18 won't expand linear TV business, but STAR's most of the content based on linear TV centric.

Only if Disney invests money wisely by retaining all these assets their success will remain unparalleled. No one will be able to diminish their glory.

And If they don't want to invest money, then why do they enter different regions??
These ppl only want profits without putting in the necessary effort.

Star India is a highly profitable entity and continues to be number one in India. They heavily relied on the IPL, and after loosing IPL rights now they want to sell star/hotstar??.

They are currently experiencing temporary losses like what they evn expected after losing the IPL digital rights. Obviously subscribers will decrease but at same time, they have numerous opportunities to strengthen hotstar even further with more stronger content.

Currently they are considering selling star/hotstar. Like go and ask Amazon what they did in the past to gain half of hotstar's subscribers. Hotstar's subscriber base remains strong even after losing millions of subscribers. Only if disney utilizes them properly hotstar will survive without cricket as well.

Similarly they also launched Disney Plus Korea in 2021 but they don't create quality series or do proper promotions nd launches. When their shows didn't work, they lay off employees and halt the production of upcoming shows.

Each country has its own unique way of functioning, but these ppl insist on applying their US style everywhere & when things don't work out, they blame others & try to sell off.

If they don't want to work properly, they should just stay in the US instead of infiltrating every region.
After Disney + launch and Post covid, they dropped long term exclusive window for theatrical distribution movies and even stopped licensing contents to rival streaming platforms. Their own these worst strategies which made Billions movie goal dream, even most of audience too understand within a 2 months content Streaming on their platforms.

investing huge money on Contents which streaming on their own platform doesn't make any sense, obviously now thier own Streaming platforms shrinking, to protect their streaming platforms blaming on linear TV and Theatrical business.

If they remove Streaming/Sports business from whatever Disney own companies in India, eventually Star entertainment Channels most successful when it's comes to Revenue, Profit and Viewership.

Again if we see nowadays Star Gold, Star Pravah, Star Jalsha, Star Kiran with Star Sports under SIPL umbrella which is not much aggressive like other broadcasters in their markets when it's comes to Contents acquisition. whereas Asianet, Star Vijay, Star Suvarna which Under ASCPL they're best in Non fiction IP and acquiring so many contents.
