Actually all warranty extensions are not 100% worth.Whether it's automobiles or electronics.

Failure rate of electronic equipments is like a bath tub curve....... For initial 1year it's under warranty and high probability of failure due to manufacturing defects if any. 1st-3rd year is useful life with lesser failure rate.....after 3rd year the 3year used equipment has higher probability of failure.....

So as a conclusion is that take extended warranty 2year for STB used more than 3year....it will be worth the money.

My suggestion is instead of going for renewal go for a new connection, you will get at cheaper price for annual subscription and also get new STB remote and dish. plus HD access fee free for one year

After one year cancel connection and get new connection, since new connections prices are lesser than package price+ HD access fee for one year.
