There was a time when Telugus kept complaining that our Stars & Filmmakers are failing to win at least a few National Awards because of the sub-standard products they have been delivering. But, The situation began changing gradually since 'Magadheera'. Films such as 'Eega', 'Baahubali' and few other Telugu Films fetched few National Awards in major categories in the recent years.
The Jury of National Film Awards announced the winners of Year 2016 just a while ago. Tollywood managed to bag as many as Five National Awards.
Best Feature Film (Telugu): Pelli Choopulu
Best Dialogues: Tharun Bhaskar (Pelli Choopulu)
Best Choreography: Raju Sundaram (Janatha Garage)
Best Wholesome Entertainment Film: Shatamanam Bhavathi
Special Jury Award: Mohan Lal (Janatha Garage, Manyam Puli & etc.,)
