if it's dead on red light due to software problem you can fix it yourself, try recovery using pendrive (look up on YouTube) or remove flash ic & flash software using ch341a programmer, you can take help for local tv or electronics repair shop to de-soldier & solder flash ic, look up on youtube for tutorials dead settopbox repair, i had repaired dead settop box myself by learning from youtube how to use ch341a programmer.

U can try uboot trick but i don't think it will work but through programmer 99% chances to alive these box
