Definitely not better content-wise but they have been pioneers here. They have been in the arena for quite some time now and they are most watched (read most relied) channels for many locals around. TV9 Karnataka's YouTube channel is also the most watched and most subscribed Kannada channel on YouTube. They created a hype in the Kannada news media being the first 24x7 news channel (Udaya News was not 24x7 though it was the first news channel in Kannada) in Kannada followed by Suvarna News 24X7 (now renamed as Suvarna News). TV9 has a strong viewer base in Karnataka followed by Suvarna. At some point of time, TV9 was a preferred choice to many families. These two channels at least carry a small amount of responsibility and differ compared to others in the level of sh*t they all show on TV.

Many channels have thrown quality in their dustbins. No news channel in Kannada actually wants to deliver quality. Every channel has a political link one or the other way. 'Suddi TV' is a news channel that broadcasts in 16:9 format with good graphics and overlays but their content is absolute sh*t. They claim they are Kannada's first HD News channel but they are not. They only show their content in 16:9 but no DTH operators have set this channel's aspect to 16:9. On pillar-box mode, it appears compressed. I expected News 18 Kannada (formerly ETV News Kannada) to be good on visual elements but they disappointed. TV9, Suvarna News, Dighvijay News are okay; Public TV is a sh*tload. BTV is the sh*ttiest news channel ever made by humankind. Raj News Kannada and TV5 Kannada still have no luck in Karnataka, nobody watches them. Udaya News died a silent death. Nobody cares what Kasturi Newz does. There probably are a dozen more channels which nobody can remember. This whole news channel market in Karnataka is a complete mess.
