TS doesnt have USB recording as of now. If one needs recording facility they have to buy the +HD PVR. Recording is free in TS.

Do we have to buy this +HD PVR box in addition to the HD STB we already buy from them? Or does the normal HD STB of Tata Sky gets replaced by the +HD PVR box if we opt for recording?

The HD STB and HD+ STB are different STB.

If one has a HD STB and opts for HD +, the HD STB will be replaced with HD + STB. The customer will have to upgrade the STB and pay the upgrade price.

The normal HD STB costs Rs 2000. The +HD PVR costs Rs 9300. (Prices is new connection as per TS website)
But if you have a HD STB and wish ti upgrade to +HD you will need to pay the difference amount (dont know how much exactly) @Bapun Raz bro, @DTH Fan bro can help

There is no extra fee for recording, you will have to recharge as per the package chosen. And recording facility is free till you subscription is active.

Tata Sky doesn't provide recording facility on normal HD STB. If a user wants recording facility, he'll need to upgrade to +HD STB which is very costly as Anish mentioned.

But the +HD STB is worth the cost. It comes with 3 tuners so you can watch 1 channel and record programs on 2 other channels or record 3 channel programs at the same time. No other DTH provide such STB. I'm pretty much satisfied with it.

Upgrading of HD to HD PVR cost is same as upgrade from SD to HD PVR.
