Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today said the Government planned to enhance the reach of Doordarshan FreeDish by distributing Free DD direct-to-home boxes in remote and interior areas of the country through State Governments, especially in the LWE impacted areas.

He said the Ministry would be giving 10,000 DTH boxes to Chattisgarh for distribution in the LWE areas.

He claimed that DD FreeDish was the largest free DTH Service available to the people in the country and reached more than 22 million homes.

Others parts of India, not possible. Government providing in LWE areas to make sure people are aware & not fall for LWE propaganda. Very poor families might get though, but there will be conditions of eligibility.

LWE- Left Wing Extremism affected areas.

If one can buy TV for atleast INR 4,000. Cant he buy SetTopBox for INR 600 to 1200?

But, in India, Free is always sweeter than honey.

Again, State Govt corrupt employees would blackmarket it at higher rates.

Here, in my State, Govt distributed LED Bulbs and Fans at a very cheaper Rate (Bulb @ INR 50 per pc/ 9W). But the common men could get nothing. Wealthy peers of Govt Leaders grabbed all.

Transfer subsidy money directly to bank account using aadhaar like lpg
