DD National's Picture quality is far better than Star Sports SD.

Observed yesterday in India VS England match.

A bit offtopic, but what is dd's problem in adding dd sports to terrestrial? Is there any law that says there can't be more than 2 channels in terrestrial, or space crunch? Because once dd sports is added to terrestrial, the sharing agreement will apply to dd sports, and dd can easily broadcast sports programmes without hampering their dd national schedule..

There are financial problems. India is a vast country and price of stb is falling where as creating and maintaining terrestrial transmission tower cost so much money on top of that a single sat can give you coverage whole India but to give proper coverage to all Indian house there needs to be few Lakh towers needed.

Terrestrial was a great technology but now it has become obsolete. So it is better to abandon it and use that freq for 4G broadband coverage

Ok, then is there another way to include dd sports channel in the mandatory sharing act? If prasar bharati has a dedicated sports channel, but are compelled to broadcast sports on its gec channel, whats the use of that sports channel?

Need to ammend the law. But opposition is not letting the Parliament functioning. So no hope at least in next one year or so.
