Indeed story is predictable, but SRK makes it worth a watch . Plus bgm by Anirudh plays a crucial role . I watched it once as well not coz of story but the cost . Even in its 4th week , the ticket cost is touching 400 for some cinemas which is quite heavy for people .
Right. Even on 4th week, it is running almost houseful

First movie to earn 40 crore in West Bengal. Next is Pathan 35 crore. Hopefully bengali film producers will stop ranting people don't watch masala mass movies & will make some good commercial movies instead of same art film.

Art movies brings International attention to our movies which masala movies can't. Even RRR wasn't famous until it won a Academy Award.
Yes. But they are only good at making art film. Most commercial Bengali movies are remakes of South Indian movies.
Most South movies are repetitive. Not all ofcourse. When they do experimentation? They end up making a Soorarai Pootu. Pretty much all the commercial movies that has to be made has been made already in all industries. What works for South is cult like fan following same happens in bollywood too? And great marketing. Pathan was garbage. People could've easily watched dubbed Mission Impossible. Guess what? They had so much marketing. Most people ended up watching this mediocre movie at theatres.

Majority want to watch commercial movies, art film is fine. But always making art film & expecting audience to watch is not logical which bengali producers do. I think except bhojpuri all industry make art film but there must be a balance. Malayalam Industry mostly make content oriented movie followed by tamil, bollywood, telugu. But a balace of mass & class is maintained which is not there when it comes to industry like Bengali or Assamese

They can if they try. But they always want to play safe. Art film costs less money in production even less than 50 lakh( for example lakkhi chele recently premiered on sony liv) & that money is easy to recover solely from ott deal

I'm new to this discussion but nevertheless I'm jumping right in . First of all Bengali cinema don't have any superstar of magnitude like SRK. Dev, Jeet, Prosenjit all have their shares of fans but they are not remotely in same league as SRK. That's why they mix content cinema with entertainment like Srijit Mukharjee, Shivaprasad Nandita etc.
