The final rate hike will depend on the negotiations between the broadcasters and distributors, industry insiders said.

“Now that all the major broadcasters have filed their RIOs, we will sit with them and negotiate to ensure that the burden on the consumer is less,” a TV distribution executive said.

Jio Star is India’s largest broadcaster with channels like Star Plus, Colors, Star Gold and Star Sports. It owns cricket rights to major events including the Indian Premier League (IPL) and those held by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), allowing it to command premium pricing among all broadcasters.
