Malayalee house gearing up for launch soon
Imagine 16 people with a character poles apart from each other living under a single roof for a few months, under the perennial eyes of a scanner, sans any mobile phone, television or other communication device. Surya TV is all geared to premier this concept, which is all new to the tele-viewers of Kerala, through Malayalee House a reality show to be anchored by actor Revathy. Premiered to begin this Friday, the show will have a melee of film stars, small screen actors, politicians and social activists.
Speaking during the announcement of the show at Kochi, Revathy said, “In this period when intimacy among people is on the wane, this show which accommodates a group of people within a confined space is not a small deal. I will be visiting them once every week and will play the role of a councillor, strategist and even an agony aunt to all the inmates of the Malayalee House,” said the actor.
“The show is not as simple as it sounds. The scope for behavioural study really excites me as an actor. I assure the audience that the show will be without any drama or fiction,” said Revathy.
During the 100 day period, the task of the residents is to create a home out of the space provided to them.
Interestingly, during the beginning of the show, courtyard and the garden will be the only spaces open to the contestants.
Arjun Menon, the creative director of the programme who brushed aside the apprehensions regarding the similarity of the show to the famous shows telecasted in national and international channels, said, “The elimination will be done by the residents itself. An inmate will be evicted every week, and with every single eviction, more rooms will be opened. The whole house will be opened finally.”
He also said that there will be eight men and women each, under the age group of 22 to 50, who will be announced during the premier of the show.
Deepa Shivan the programming head of Malayalee House said, “This show is meant to identify the character of different people with varying temperament.
She added, “Unlike the soaps where stories are altered to create tension, there will be real-life dramas and crises.”
There will be special ‘Malayalee House Bytes’ that will showcase the humorous events that takes place in between 10 and 11 pm.
Malayalee House is produced by Vedartha Entertainement Limited.
