MUMBAI: Sending a positive signal to the media and entertainment industry, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has promised to process licences and permissions in a time-bound manner.
The MIB in its Citizens/Clients’ Charter committed to clear within four months applications to various services such as direct-
to-home (DTH), multi-system operator (MSO), headend-in-the-sky (HITS), uplinking and
downlinking of channels, setting up teleports and TV rating agencies.
On the issue of licence for providing DTH, MSO, teleport and TV services, the ministry said that it will forward the applications in two months, after the receipt of the completed applications, to the concerned Ministries/Departments for necessary clearances.
On the issue of providing HITS licences, the ministry said that applicants can commence
uplinking/downlinking operations within a year from the date of issuance of SACFA clearance from WPC.
