MUMBAI: Infotainment broadcaster National
Geographic Channels International (NGCI) t
has picked up the rights to a new WWII
special about ‘Hitler’s Last Year’ from Zed.
The two-part film will air globally on
National Geographic Channel this year,
including in the US.

The commemorative special, documenting
the final year of German Chancellor Adolf
Hitler’s life, marks the 70th anniversary of
the end of the conflict. Spanning the eleven
apocalyptic months of the conflict between
D-Day and the Third Reich’s surrender, the
special unveils previously unheard
strategies on both sides of the conflict that
changed world history forever. Viewers will
learn why it took almost a year to bring
down the Nazi regime.

Based entirely on re-mastered, restored,
recoloured archives and with re-mastered
sound in 5.1, the project has drawn upon
rare images to retrace the epic events that
ended the war.

NGCI executive VP, head of international
content Hamish Mykura said, “There is a
universal fascination with Hitler and his
regime. This is a beautifully made, visually
stunning film that provides a shocking and
in-depth insight into the tactics employed
by both sides in the final months of the war.
It is an exceptional and gripping film that
will be a fitting commemoration of the War’s
end, and a notable addition to National
Geographic Channel’s legacy of high-quality
history programming.”

Zed head of distribution and acquisitions
Céline Payot Lehmann said, “This film
proves that there is still a place on prime
time television for well written and high-
quality specialist factual. Director Korn-
Brzoza is an amazing storyteller who
manages to bring new light to a well-known
chapter of history.

Produced by Cinétévé (Lucie Pastor and
Fabienne Servan Schreiber) for France 2, the
film was directed by David Korn-Brzoza.
Additional production partners include
Smithsonian Canada, TV5 Québec Canada,
RTBF, RTS and Viewcom.
