If i want to upgrade my HD STB to Xstream box, whether i get same price or different ?

Are they still providing Rs. 500 additional discount on buying secondary connection... If so then a customer who buys a secondary HD STB and wants to install it with his Old ODU then price of new connection will turn out to b zero

Also it seems that New Variant of Airtel XStream STB which has been manufactured by Flextronics will be provided under new pricing. Remaining stock of Current model of XStream STB will first be used & then the fresh stock of New XStream STB likely to be rolled out phase wise across cities

Xtreme box should be ₹1000 as well. Since you basically need to pay atleast ₹153.40 rent a month to use as NCF. You also need a stable Internet connection to use rest of the features.

Buddy but Rs. 1000 won't be enough to cover the cost put in manufacturing the box. Already they r giving huge subsidy in price of all boxes which will absorbed in revenue they earn thru different streams. NCF cannot be the reason to provide box at less price as package pricing is a separate thing and any customer who is buying hybrid / xstream box he/she is wanting to consume content both thru linear and OTT platforms. Internet cost again is additional thing which a customer will have to borne by himself to watch content & airtel digital tv will not getting any money from that if its a connection from some other company... For customers who use airtel broadband, dth/postpaid, already airtel digital tv provides discount in combo airtel black plans as well host of other freebies.

Anyways i am of the opinion that brands should educate customers that investing in a good product at little higher price is the best option rather than investing in cheap priced products which lack quality. If u remember the Tata Sky SD silver colored boxes which were provided from 2006 to 2010, SD+ or even HD PVR boxes which were later given , though they were quite costly but their build quality was fantastic , had longer life and hence gave excellent user experience. Nowadays people r wanting all things free or at lowest cost which has completed downgraded the quality of products , these do not give the features or smooth functionality we look for and even last just few years at max

Jio has a far superior box which they offer for ₹1000. There is no NCF here. You can pay as low as ₹470 for internet and use it. Even firesticks which comes with no strings attached cost around ₹2k. If a customer is buying a set top box with internet features. They are sure going for Internet feature. Companies can make profit buying binge packs like Tata Sky is selling. Here you got to profit from DTH service you are selling. But from streaming services as well.

Most consumer products in this day and age are made to be used on short term basis. So that companies can make profits selling new hardware. Even consumers knows same. That's why most people still buy road side headphones for ₹50 which can last from a month or six when they can easily buy a ₹400 one with warranty. They know the ₹400 one will go bad post warranty period.
