MUMBAI: It was a great 2016 for Star World Premiere HD, India’s leading English Entertainment Channel with shows like X-Files: Event Series and People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story kick-starting the programming line-up! As 2017 sets off, the channel that is renowned for airing some of the most award-winning, critically-acclaimed and star-studded shows on television is all geared up to, once again, start the year on an exciting note.
The line-up commences with Season 2 of Zach Galifianakis (Between Two Ferns and Hangover fame) and Emmy award winning Louis Anderson starrer Baskets. The series follows the life of Chip Baskets (Galifianakis), who desperately struggles to fulfill his dream and become a professionally trained French Clown while facing many difficulties.
In season two, the Baskets family will be seen at its most fragile. Losing his wife and his rodeo job, Chip jumps on a train to get the hell out of Bakersfield, but a gang of gutter punks, the police, and a sudden death drag him right back into the drama he tried to escape. His twin brother, Dale’s (Zach Galifianakis) marriage crumbles as his unrequited love affair with Martha (Martha Kelly) deepens, and Christine (Louie Anderson), who dedicated her life to her sons, Chip and Dale, with little affection in return, takes her own happiness into consideration for once —and finds romance on the way.

Another show with an impressive and long-standing legacy, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns with its impeccable five-some – Frank (Danny DeVito), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Charlie (Charlie Day) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson). Having commenced its journey in 2005, the series has come a long way and soon became an audience favorite, greatly revered and loved for its comic punches for over a decade. The show that will premiere in India on Star World Premiere HD follows a group of friends who run the dilapidated Paddy’s Pub, an Irish bar in South Philadelphia. Five immoral underachievers who are ignorant, egoistical, selfish and unethical, they always find themselves involved in controversies. The show subsequently displays a funny side to the gang that has no unity among themselves and keep plotting against each other leading up to hilarious consequences.
The premiere episode, dubbed ‘The Gang Turns Black’ will feature the gang getting into a very troubled yet hilarious situation. After an electric heating blanket shorts out while the gang watches ‘The Wiz’, they look in the mirror and realize they’ve turned black. To get back to being themselves they go through all manners of classic body-switch movie shenanigans.
The episode turned out to be the most-watched telecast in the studio network outlet’s three-year history internationally. What’s more? The creators of Game of Thrones – David Benioff and D.B Weiss will be seen in cameo roles in the second episode.
In 2014, Entertainment Weekly listed the show at #7 in the ‘26 Best Cult TV Shows Ever’ and in 2016, the series won the People’s Choice Award under the Favorite Cable TV Comedy.

MUMBAI: English entertainment channel AXN will premiere US crime drama ‘Justified’ in India on 30 January. The show will air every Monday-Friday at 11 pm.
With a rating of 8.6/10 on IMDB, ‘Justified’ premieres in India following a successful six season run in the West. Touted as one of the most intriguing shows on television, ‘Justified’ commands huge critical acclaim and social media fandom. It was nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards including two wins for Margo Martindale’s and Jeremy Davies’ performance.
Creator of the show Graham Yost, who has also won an Emmy and Golden Globe for his past work, is delighted at the show premiering in India. “India, which is the largest democracy on earth, is finally watching the show, and I hope that it still feels as fresh to the Indian audience as it felt to the American audience. We always hoped that the show ‘Justified’ will be watched for a long time. Those who couldn’t see it the first time around could catch up with it now,” he said.
Based on Elmore Leonard’s novella ‘Fire in the Hole’, ‘Justified’ stars Timothy Olyphant in the lead character of Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens, a lawman who finds himself drawn back to his home state of Kentucky which he had escaped for good in his youth. ‘Justified’ involves great dialogues, superb cinematography and excellent chemistry between the lead actors.
