I called them day before yesterday and he said that new STB would be arriving within 2 or 3 days,hoping that they solve the problem within next two days  :k

I dont Know abt HD DVR booting time .. But in my SD+ STB booting time is less than 30 secs. Only ..

The problem you are facing is software related, if you could somehow manage to get a copy 601 firmware meant for HD DVR, and try to manually update then you won't have to replace STB.

Well, DVR's are more complex compared to standard STB. So, all DVR's take some time to boot.
