Nickelodeon to launch new channel "The SPLAT"

Called The Splat, the channel will feature the likes of The Rugrats, Cat Dog, Rocko's Modern Life, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and more.

Nickelodeon has confirmed that it will launch a new TV channel dedicated entirely to popular cartoons of the 90s.

Fans of Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold and Rocko’s Modern Life rejoice, as network’s roster of hit titles of yesteryear now prepare to find themselves revived on the new channel titled The Splat.

In early September, Nickelodeon’s president of content and development, Russell Hicks revealed that the team was ‘looking at its library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way.’

News of the new dedicated channel was announced at this year’s 90s Fest, held in New York on September 12th, 2015.

The launch date of the new channel is yet to be confirmed, but in the mean time, Nickelodeon’s The Splat teaser should be enough to rekindle those fond memories:

The decision to create a completely new channel as an outlet for Nick's cartoons of yore seems well-timed.

One of the most loved cartoon channel Nickelodeon is all
set to take you back to your childhood days as it has
confirmed its plan to dedicate a new channel called ‘The
Splat’ entirely to its popular cartoons of the 90s.
On Friday, Nickelodeon let the cat out of the bag not
completely though as it just told site visitors to follow the
hashtag #TheSplatIsComing for more information as well
as offered everyone a visual of that familiar orange splatter
logo. That would be mildly exciting enough, but the
network also used the platform of the Brooklyn-based 90s
Fest last weekend weekend to spread the word. The
celebs from the 1990s like Coolio, Pauly Shore and Smash
Mouth were all involved in promoting the still-mysterious
promotion.
