Hello, I have taken the Xstream box recently and it seems, it can push on HD though the source movie is available in 4K. For example I have in built Amazon app in my Samsung TV and when I play movies like Ranasthalam , Sari Leru Neekevvaru ( Telugu) I can see those movies in 4K but if the same movies are played from Xstream Box Amazon app, I can only get HD quality, not sure why. Can anybody here of some help, please?

Try connect your xstream box to HDMI ARC port in TV. If it is already connected that way, then it's an issue with app itself not supporting 4k in stream box.

Thank you Anjan I will try this but a question. Do Apps have such restriction like not supporting 4K etc , I know the devices may not support 4K but do the Apps too?

Yes, apps have to be developed to support 4k/Atmos for specific devices. For example, Netflix supports Atmos without 4K in Apple TV but it does not support Atmos in Firesti 4K.

Oh!! okay, I dont see any label against the HDMI ports, how can I identify ARC port?

Usually, most of the TVs have HDMI(ARC) labeled port. Check if your TV model has ARC supported HDMI port.

Can you post any screenshot of how you determined that Amazon Prime app from Airtel Xstream stb is pushing only HD and not 4K resolution. Also which movie.

Mine is Samsung 55 inch 4K curved model which inbuilt has Amazon and Netflix apps can play 4K content seamlessly , for example Sarileru Neekevvaru and Rangasthalam ( Telugu movies)

Thank you Chandra, I can by clicking on any button ( like some down arrow etc)on remote I could see HD if I play, for example, Rangasthalam or Sarileru Neekavvaru ( Telugu movies) from Xstream Box and if I play same movies from in built apps in my TV ( Samsung 4K Curved) I can see the label as UHD.

I've checked on my Airtel Xstream box in Amazon Prime for Sarileru Neekevvaru. It's shown as Ultra HD for me.

Also I've checked on Tata Sky Binge plus box as well. Here it's shown as HD 1080p. I've pointed same difference in my other post earlier. Don't know the reason.

I can also watch it thru the AP app on my LG TV. But I cannot see the resolution on my TV app.

Attached are the images from Airtel Xstream and Tata Sky Binge plus boxes.

Pl feel free to update your observations if any.

Thanks.
