Ads should stay but content strategy should differ, bring in more varied content on HD while SD should cater to mass content....develop separate audience for each and earn both ways. English Entertainment chs did not tap into emerging audience at oppurtune time hence now shutting down. A proper content cost to revenue strategy should b drawn for each channel based on target demographic. Innovation lacking across chs
Content wise they could innovate and add more value to HD counterpart to justify the higher price
 
Because of TRAI new rules channel like HBO and WB shut down even AXN soon Star world channel will shut down too so it's better if TRAI bring back old rules and don't mess up anymore
 
atleast consumer was getting benefitted a little bit in that era. Countless offers used to come, bundled add-ons were so much beneficial than current bouquets systems etc. Many more examples like getting full HD Add-on with 40 odd channels at 220 was a steal... With whoever I spoke has either moved to Tatasky or dropped STBs in the naala

So tell broadcasters and operators to give similar discounts / pricing now but they won't as content is not compleling to draw audience and there is no guarantee of big money in long run which was guaranteed in advance earlier

TRAI sure has not made the fluctuations easy with NTO. So many loops and agreements involved even for a single paisa change in MRP. Getting the updated prices on DTH and cable operators portal is a whole other thing

I will tell you something it's not ₹30 of Viacom's bouquet that is causing burden on my bouquets. It's ₹153.40 that is causing. I don't see TRAI decreases the maximum price cap for DPOs while they are expecting broadcasters to decrease their maximum price. You said they earn from UI ads, home channels and teleshopping tha why do they still get to charge ₹153.40 and even more additional charges for extra slots.
 
Imagine big broadcasters decide to put their flagship hd channels out of all packs and bouquets and price them at rs.25 or 50 ,then those channels shouldn't show all those irritating ads.
Then people will be encouraged to take those channels.

Baseless logic. If SD is charged ₹25. Than HD should cost ₹50? Than 2 flagship channel along with monthly rental will cost ₹253.40.
 
1. Don't remove ads from HD channels. It will be shooting oneself in the foot. If one starts others will be forced to follow. You will need revenue from ads and subscription. As there is limit audience willing to go for HD.

2. Early content is a brilliant concept. Simulcast while charging more doesn't make sense and is discouraging to consumers. Give shows atleast one hour earlier than it's SD counterpart. Someone like Colors can benefit with shows like Big Boss.

If a program of 30 mins has 10 min ad & 20 min proper program time
Then sd will cover full 30 min
While hd will only have 20 min & next one will start before sd version

Than they will have to air filler to cover up the slot. I hated AXN when they aired shows at odd times like 8:15 pm. Shows needs to air in proper time. No one will expect a new show at 8:20 pm over 8:30 pm.
