Ordered a new remote for my tata sky + hd STB, it is not working with my STB

I have verified that the new remote works as i was able to pair it with my TV remote and use it to turn the tv on, but the remote does not work with the STB, i have tried resetting the remote to no avail.

Didn't the technician test the remote at the time of delivery? I got the same remote, working for me for my Transfer box.
