Television show Pehredaar Piya Ki has finally crossed the boiling point of saturation, inviting viewers to sign a petition demanding a ban on the show.
Pehredaar Piya Ki has been at the receiving end because of its peculiar plot line which chronicles the story of a 9-year-old boy married to an 18-year-old girl.
One of the viewers began a campaign on change.org addressed to Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles and Information and Broadcasting, to ban Pehredaar Piya Ki as this loathsome and distorted series can severely impact children.
The petitioner, who now has enough support, wrote: "A 10-year-old impressionable little kid ("piyaa") caressing and stalking a lady who's more than double his age and filling sindoor in her "maang" is being telecasted at prime time, family time. Imagine the kind of influence it will steadily and perpetually infuse in the viewers' mindset. We want a ban on the serial. We do not want our kids to be influenced by such TV serials."
Ever since the show was aired on July 17, viewers as well as actors such as Karan Wahi slammed the series for its misleading storyline, branding it ‘stupid’ just to garner high TRPs.
After telecasting episodes depicting absurd behaviour on the part of a kid, the show has reached a new peak of weirdness with its present plot which revolves around the couple’s honeymoon.
Pehredaar Piya Ki also has uncomfortable dialogues such as "He is a kid, and we don't know when he will be big enough to satisfy you." Nuff said.
