Sony Entertainment Television’s controversial show ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’ continues to make the headlines, with latest reports suggesting the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Smriti Irani, forwarding the complaints about the show to the Content Complaints Council (BCCC).
Mid-Day reports that the petition to get the show banned, has garnered more than 1.25 lakh signatures in just a few days. The petition states that the show, which revolves around a 10-year old boy stalking a lady twice his age, is being telecast at prime time.
The petition added, “Imagine the kind of influence it will steadily and perpetually infuse among the viewers’ mindset. We want a ban on the serial. We do not want our kids to be influenced by such TV serials.”
BCCC sources say that the matter will be taken up for hearing on 16th August for a decision.
