Plastic covers around LNB

I have seen couple of LNBs covered with plastic bags on some rooftops.
I guess the intention is to get uninterrupted service during rain.
Anybody tried it ? Any success?
Wondering if the signal strength will not be affected by doing so...

signal strength is not affecting.. but if rain drops are touching your dish, that will affect the picture. covering with plastic is for saving the lnb from rain..that may increase the life of your lnb.
