MUMBAI: Popular Hindi TV serial Sarabhai vs
Sarabhai, which aired during 2004–06 and acquired
a big following, is coming back after a decade as a
web series, its producer Jamnadas Majethia of Hats
Off Productions has announced.
The script of the proposed web series version is yet
to be finalised, Majethia, who owns Hats Off
Productions, said.
The original TV show had a successful run with 69
episodes. It revolved around the shenanigans of an
upper-class Gujarati family in South Bombay,
called the Sarabhais, with an older son and his wife
living in an apartment across the hallway from the
parents and younger son.
Directed by Deven Bhojani, ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’
featured a cast that included veteran actors
Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak, Sumeet Raghavan,
Rupali Ganguly, Rajesh Kumar, Arvind Vaidya and
Rita Bhaduri.
In the original TV series, the Sarabhai family
consisted of Indravadan Sarabhai (Satish Shah) and
his wife Maya (Ratna Pathak), who live in an
apartment with their younger son Rosesh (Rajesh
Kumar). Their older son Sahil (Sumeet Raghavan)
and his wife Monisha Sarabhai (Rupali Ganguly) live
in the apartment across the hallway.
The ensuing conflict and comedy due to
interactions between the mom-in-law and her
daughter-in-law, the prankster father and his
poetry-reciting younger son had kept the show’s
viewership regaled.
